The Yukon Zip Locker for the rear Dana 44 in a non-Rubicon Jeep JK, part number YZLD44-3-30-JK, is an air-operated selectable locker with 30 spline axle shafts.
Fitment
- Jeep JK non-Rubicon rear Dana 44, 30 spline. Retailer fitment guides list 2007 to 2018 two-door and Unlimited models.
- It will not work in a JK Rubicon differential.
- Drilled for 1/2-inch ring gear bolts.
How it works
Drive it as an open differential every day, then switch it to lock 100 percent when you head off pavement. Yukon builds it with a forged case and 8620 internals, says it works with a variety of air delivery systems, and assembles it in the USA. Yukon lists new carrier bearings with the locker.
Air supply and controls
The Zip Locker needs an on-board air system or compressor to operate. Yukon's install kit YZLIK-01 includes the switch, solenoid, bulkhead fitting and 20 feet of air line. Yukon's own listing for this locker names the locker and carrier bearings, and some retailers list the switch, solenoid and air line with it, so confirm what ships before you plan the install.
Check before you order
- Make sure your rear axle is the non-Rubicon Dana 44. Rubicon differentials are a different setup.
- Check your ring gear bolt size against the 1/2-inch drilling.
- Plan for an air source, since the locker does not include a compressor.
Yukon lists a six-year warranty on Zip Lockers, with conditions. California Proposition 65 warning: this product can expose you to chemicals including arsenic, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer.
