Yukon ring & pinion set, Dana 44, short pinion, reverse rotation, 5.38 ratio

This is the Yukon 5.38 ring and pinion set, YG D44RS-538RUB, for the front Dana 44 in 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Rubicon models. It is a reverse rotation, short pinion, 24-spline set.

• Axle: Dana Spicer 44, reverse rotation
• Ratio: 5.38
• Pinion: short pinion, 24 spline
• Ring gear: 8.50 inch, 10 bolts

5.38 is the numerically highest of the six ratios Yukon lists for this axle, which means the most gear reduction of the group.

Check before you order

• This set is for the Rubicon front axle. The rear Dana 44 in the JK takes a different Yukon set (the D44JK series), so do not order this one for the rear.
• Front and rear axles need the same ratio. If the rear is already geared, match it to 5.38 or plan to change both.
• Confirm you have the Rubicon front Dana 44 before ordering, and that you are replacing a reverse rotation short pinion set.

What's included

This is the gear pair only. Master kits with bearings, seals and hardware are separate parts.

Installation

Gear setup is not a bolt-on swap. Expect 4 to 6 hours, proper setup tools and patience with pattern and backlash.

Yukon puts a one-year warranty on its ring and pinion sets and also describes a Y.E.S. plan that covers the gear set. Confirm the details with Yukon.
