This is the Yukon 4.30 thick ring and pinion set, YG D60R-430R-T, for the reverse rotation Dana Spicer 60. It has a 29-spline pinion and a thick ring gear.

Fitment

  • Axle: Dana Spicer 60, reverse rotation (a front axle application, per retailer listings)
  • Ratio: 4.30, thick gear
  • Pinion: 29 spline
  • Ring gear: 9.75 inch, 12 bolts
  • Carrier: made for a 4.10 and down carrier

4.30 is the lowest ratio in this group of thick reverse rotation sets (4.30, 4.56, 4.88, 5.13 and 5.38).

What "thick" means here

The word "thick" describes the ring gear, not the ratio. Yukon calls this a thick gear set for a 4.10 and down carrier, which lets you run the 4.30 ratio on the carrier normally used for 4.10 and lower ratios. Retailer listings give the carrier break for this axle as 4.10/4.56.

Check before you order

  • Rotation: this is a reverse rotation set. A standard rotation Dana 60 needs a different Yukon part.
  • Carrier: confirm the carrier in your axle is the 4.10 and lower type. A carrier cut for 4.56 and higher is not what this set is made for.
  • Yukon's page does not list specific vehicles, so match by axle, rotation, ring gear size and pinion spline count.

What's included

Ring gear and pinion only. Installation kit, bearings, seals and carrier components are not part of the set.

Installation

Set pinion depth and backlash carefully and check the contact pattern before you close the axle. A shop that sets up gears is the safer choice if you have not done it before.

Warranty

Yukon states a one-year warranty on its ring and pinion sets, and its site also describes a Y.E.S. protection plan for the gear set. Get the current terms from Yukon before you rely on either.
