The X-Factor mid-arm system is Rock Krawler's Sport and Sahara lift for the Wrangler JL (2-door), and it is a complete bolt-in 4.5 inch kit. The arms are what set it apart: adjustable high clearance uppers and lowers that give a total of 95 degrees of misalignment, built with maintenance-free Adventure Series joints at the frame and Pro Krawler joints at the axle.
You get a lot of articulation for a mid-arm, a ride Rock Krawler describes as better than the factory linear-rate springs, and a clear path to a long arm system later if you decide you want more.
What's in the kit
The base kit, as Rock Krawler lists it:
- (2) front and (2) rear high clearance adjustable lower control arms
- (2) front and (2) rear high clearance adjustable upper control arms
- (4) triple-rate coil springs and (2) front, (2) rear spring pads
- (1) adjustable front track bar and (1) rear adjustable track bar
- (2) Gen-II sway bar links
- (2) adjustable rear sway bar links
- (1) bolt-on rear track bar relocation bracket
- Bump stops with every shock option (not included with the base system)
The coilover packages (Comp) swap in front shock towers and brackets, and keep two rear triple-rate coil springs with rear spring correction seats.
Why this system
- 95 degrees of misalignment. X-Factor series arms keep the factory JL control arm bind in check.
- Pro Krawler joints at the axle, Adventure Series at the frame. The frame joints are maintenance free.
- All eight arms adjustable. Dial in caster and pinion angle front and rear.
- Triple-rate coils. All four coils work together for on-road comfort and still have the free length for off-road articulation.
- Correction built in. Spring pads reduce factory spring bow, and front and rear track bar geometry corrections center the axles.
- Gen-II sway bar links. Included in the box, along with adjustable rear links.
- Upgradable. Rock Krawler lists the kit as upgradable to its long arm system.
Pick your package
The Package option sets the shocks.
- Base System (No Shocks). Kit only, for buyers who already have shocks picked out. Bump stops ship with every shock option; with no shocks they are sold separately (Rock Krawler lists them as RK07124). Generic shock lengths for the gas kits: front 18.31 inches collapsed and 30.31 extended, rear 19 collapsed and 31 extended.
- Bilstein 5100 Shocks. Maintenance-free shocks that Rock Krawler calls a great pairing with its multi-rate coil springs.
- Stage 1 Shocks (RRD 2.25 IFP). Rock Krawler's in-house shocks: a 2.25 inch hard anodized fluted aluminum body with the cooling surface area of a 2.5 inch shock, a 3/4 inch hard chrome stainless shaft and dual DU shaft bearings. Serviceable, rebuildable and revalveable.
- Comp Coilover Stage 1 and Stage 2. The Comp System runs 2 5/8 inch RRD racing coilovers with remote reservoirs up front and matching 2 5/8 inch RRD shocks with remote reservoirs in the rear, with coil springs still holding up the back, so it can still carry small loads or tow a small trailer. Stage 2 adds Fast CD (compression damping) adjusters. Rock Krawler lists 14.4 inches of front axle travel and 13.9 inches of rear axle travel.
Fitment and what else you'll need
- Fits 2018 and newer Jeep Wrangler JL 2-door models, Sport and Sahara (non-Rubicon), gas.
- Rock Krawler's tire guidance for Sport and Sahara models: 37 inch tires with full OEM fenders, or 38 inch tires with trimmed or high-lined fenders, at a 3 inch bump stop height with 3.5 inches of backspacing.
- Lift heights are based on a standard Rubicon build (front bumper and winch, rear bumper and full-size spare). Rock Krawler suggests dropping 1 inch of rear coil lift if you delete the spare, and going up 1 inch if you load the back for an overland-style build.
- A new front driveshaft is recommended if you wheel the Jeep routinely, and Rock Krawler recommends welding the rear cradle with 37 inch tires or larger.
- The coilover packages need fabrication: the listing calls for removing the factory shock mount on the frame and the shock and spring mount on the axle, and welding the new coilover mount to the axle.
Rock Krawler lists lifetime warranty coverage on the system itself, and its RRD shocks carry a separate 6 month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
