Starter is exactly what it sounds like. On the 4-door Wrangler JLU (diesel) it gets you Rock Krawler's triple-rate coils and a pair of high-clearance front lowers that correct caster, plus correction seats for coil bow and lean. It is listed as upgradeable to any other Rock Krawler system, so you can start here and grow into the rest.

What's in the kit

  • (4) triple-rate coil springs
  • (2) high-clearance front lower control arms (1.5 inch solid alloy steel) with Adventure Series joints
  • (6) coil spring correction seats
  • Bolt-on rear track bar bracket in 1/4 inch laser-cut steel (supplied depending on the shock package)
  • Bump stops (included with every shock option; sold separately if you buy the kit with no shocks)

Why this system

  • Geometry correction, minus the bells: Rock Krawler calls it the minimum geometry-correction kit for anyone adding taller lift springs. The fixed high-clearance front lowers correct caster.
  • Triple-rate coils: Four coils tuned for the application. Rock Krawler says they ride better on the street than the factory linear-rate springs, and they carry enough free length to stay seated when the axle droops, as long as you run a proper length shock.
  • Coil bow and lean correction: Six correction seats take out spring bow and help with vehicle lean.
  • Room to flex: The coils have enough length to flex on the trail without unseating.
  • Upgradeable to any other system: Rock Krawler lists the Starter as upgradeable to any of its other systems.
  • Warranty: Rock Krawler lists lifetime warranty coverage on the kit.

Pick your package

  • Base System (No Shocks): The complete kit with no shocks. Bump stops are not included on this option (Rock Krawler sells them separately). Pick it if you already have shocks picked out. Whatever you run, it needs to be a proper length so the coil stays seated.
  • Bilstein 5100 Shocks: The kit plus a set of maintenance-free Bilstein 5100 shocks, which Rock Krawler describes as a good pairing with its multi-rate coils. Bump stops are included.
  • Stage 1 - RRD 2.25 IFP Shocks: The kit plus Rock Krawler's in-house RRD 2.25 inch IFP shocks. The body is hard-anodized aluminum with the cooling surface of a 2.5 inch shock, the shaft is 3/4 inch 17-4 PH stainless, and the valving is billet aluminum with dual DU shaft bearings. They are serviceable, rebuildable and revalvable. Bump stops are included.

Fitment and what else you will need

  • Vehicle: 2018 to present Jeep Wrangler JLU 4-door, 4WD. The listing is for diesel engines only.
  • Tires and wheels: Sport and Sahara, 37/38 inch tires with 3.5 inch backspacing (37 inch on full OEM fenders, 38 inch on trimmed or high-lined fenders). Rubicon, 37 inch tires with 4.5 inch backspacing or 40 inch tires with 3.5 inch (37/38 inch on full OEM fenders, 40 inch on trimmed or high-lined fenders). A 3 inch bump stop height is recommended for all of them.
  • Lift height basis: Rock Krawler measures lift on a Rubicon with a front bumper and winch, a rear bumper and a full-size spare. If you delete the spare, drop the rear coil lift height by 1 inch. If the rear is heavily built up (overland gear), raise it by 1 inch.
  • Driveshaft: Rock Krawler recommends a new front driveshaft if you off-road regularly.
  • Recommended add-on: Rock Krawler suggests adding its front adjustable track bar (RK06187HD) to the Starter kit.
