The Advance Adapters 6R140/10R140 4x4 Extended Adapter Kit (P/N 50-6141) is built for the Ford 6R140 automatic transmission — the six-speed found behind both the 6.7L diesel and 6.2L gas engines — in its 4WD configuration, paired to an Atlas G2 transfer case. This kit is designed exclusively for the 4WD version of the transmission and uses a spud shaft to extend the adapter length, effectively matching the 4WD output to the same length as Advance Adapters' 2WD version (50-6142). That's the "extended" in this kit's name.
The 6R140 itself uses a single-piece, deep-skirted case — a design Ford adopted for quieter operation, reduced weight from fewer fasteners between body pieces, and fewer potential fluid leak points. It's rated for 740 ft-lbs of input shaft torque and weighs 345 lbs.
If your build uses the newer 10R140 instead of the 6R140, note that the 10R140's output shaft runs slightly longer — Advance Adapters calls for adding their AS-8610 spacer (0.5" thick) alongside this kit to get proper Atlas engagement on the 10R140.
What's included:
- Dowel, Alignment for 51-3900 & 51-6140 (716111)
- Adapter, 6R140 to Atlas Transfer Case (51-6140)
- Adapter, 6R140 Transfer Case Extension (51-6142)
- Transfer Case Stud Bolt Kit (302070) — 2
- Flat Washer, 1/2" Plated SAE Zinc (725003) — 2
- H.H.C.S. 1/2-13 x 1-1/2" Grade 5 (725008) — 2
- Bolt, 3/8-16 x 1.00" SHCS Zinc (723731)
- Bearing Retainer, 210 (716219)
- (additional sub-assembly hardware per Advance Adapters' spec sheet)
The kit uses factory bolts to fasten the adapter to the transmission — Advance Adapters flags one specific bolt location (the 6 o'clock position) as important to get right during install, and the factory rubber mount carries over from the Ford transmission onto the new adapter.
