The Advance Adapters 1/2" Spacer Ring (SKU AS-8610) is another sizing option in the same Atlas fitment-spacer lineup as the 3/4" and 1" versions — used to correct clearance issues caused by variations in transmission output shaft length on Atlas conversions.
The problem is the same one that runs through this whole spacer family: some transmissions have a positive "stick-out" on their output shaft relative to the edge of the rear tailhousing or adapter, which causes the shaft to bottom out when installing an Atlas. Trimming the output shaft down is the usual fix, but it isn't always available — some transmissions don't have enough splines on the main shaft to allow it, or the shaft simply shouldn't be modified. This spacer measures 1/2" thick and adds that clearance without touching the shaft.
