For the 2018 and newer Jeep Wrangler JL 2-door that is going to climb, the T-Rex with 6 inch rear stretch adds wheelbase on top of the hybrid layout: a high clearance mid-arm front and a high clearance 3 link long arm rear. It is a bigger commitment to install, which is covered below.
What's in the kit
- (2) front high clearance adjustable lower control arms, (2) front adjustable upper control arms and (2) high clearance rear lower long arms
- (2) rear lower control arms and a rear upper control arm
- Rear long arm mount kit, rear upper frame mount, rear track bar mount, rear axle truss and (2) rear shock mounts
- Front and rear adjustable track bars
- Front sway bar disconnect links and (2) rear extended sway bar links
- (4) triple-rate coil springs and (4) spring correction seats (Comp coilover packages ship the rear pair only)
- Rear brake line mount kit
- (2) offset spring mounts for the axle
Why this system
- Full mid-arm front end paired with a 3 link long arm rear conversion.
- The 6 inch rear stretch gives much more stable climbing on steep ascents, according to Rock Krawler.
- The 3 link rear with a track bar removes the natural binding of the stock rear suspension, so the rear moves smoothly without jacking.
- X2 rear geometry gains 4.5 inches of ground clearance under the rear axle without giving up any rear shock travel, and the rear roll center is raised to help handling and cut down on side to side axle shifting off-road.
- All of the control arms use Adventure Series joints, so they are maintenance free.
- Triple-rate coils that work together for a ride Rock Krawler says beats the OEM linear rate springs, with free length set for off-road articulation. Correction seats take out the spring bow from the factory setup.
- Lifetime warranty coverage is listed in the system benefits.
Pick your package
The arms and brackets are the same in every package. The Package option is what changes.
- Base System - No Shocks: The full arm and bracket system with no shocks, for anyone who already has shocks they want to run or is sourcing a shock package separately. Bump stops ship with the shock packages; with no shocks, Rock Krawler sells them separately as RK07124.
- Stage 1 - RRD 2.25 IFP Shocks: Rock Krawler's own RRD 2.25 inch IFP shocks, built in-house. Fluted aluminum bodies with the cooling surface area of a 2.5 inch shock, 3/4 inch 17-4 PH stainless shafts with hard chrome plating, billet aluminum valve circuits, dual DU shaft bearings and double redundant sealing. Serviceable, rebuildable and revalveable.
- Comp Coilover System - Stage 1: Coilovers up front, coil springs in the rear. The front is a 2.625 inch RRD racing coilover with a remote reservoir (13 inches of shock travel, 14.4 inches of front axle travel) and the rear gets matching 2.625 inch RRD racing shocks with remote reservoirs. A good fit if you want coilover adjustability up front but still carry small loads or tow a small trailer.
- Comp Coilover System - Stage 2: The Comp layout with Fast CD (compression damping) adjusters added to the front coilovers and the rear shocks, for even more tuning.
Generic shock lengths for the shock packages are 18.31 inches collapsed and 30.31 inches extended in front, and 19 inches collapsed and 31 inches extended in the rear.
Fitment and what else you will need
- Fits 2018 and newer Jeep Wrangler JL 2-door models.
- Rock Krawler bases all lift heights on Rubicon models in a standard build: front bumper and winch, rear bumper and a full size spare.
- Tires and wheels (Sport and Sahara): with full OEM fenders Rock Krawler recommends 37 inch tall tires, with trimmed or high lined fenders 38 inch tall tires, both with a 3 inch bump stop height and 3.5 inches of backspacing.
- Rock Krawler suggests dropping 1 inch of rear coil lift height if you are building with a spare delete, and going up 1 inch for an overland or heavily loaded rear.
- Install: requires welding the rear long arm mounts, removing the OEM frame side upper and lower rear control arm mounts and the OEM axle side rear lower control arm and track bar mounts, and modifying the OEM rear shock mounts to weld on the raised rear upper shock mounts. It also requires major body work modifications and the Next Venture Motorsports Rear Stretch Armor Package.
- Rock Krawler recommends a new front and rear C.V. driveshaft for any front shock with a maximum extended length over 29 inches, and limiting straps to avoid over-extending suspension components.
Rock Krawler lists lifetime warranty coverage on this system.
