Rock Krawler 4.5 Inch Adventure X2 Long Arm System - Jeep Wrangler JLU 4-Door
JL45AX2LA-4
The 4.5 inch Adventure X2 is Rock Krawler's compromise between a comfortable daily driver and a hard core trail rig, sized for the 2018 and newer Jeep Wrangler JLU 4-door (gas models). It is a long arm design at both ends, a 4 link in front and an independent 3 link in back, with joints that never see a grease gun.
What's in the kit
- Weld-on long arm hardware: front long arm mounting system, (2) rear frame side long arm mounts, (2) rear axle side control arm mounts, rear frame side upper control arm mount, rear track bar mount and rear axle truss
- (2) weld-on rear upper shock mounts
- (2) high clearance Adventure-X front lower control arms and (2) adjustable front upper control arms
- (2) high clearance Adventure-X rear lower control arms and a rear upper control arm
- Front and rear adjustable anti-wobble track bars
- Front sway bar disconnect kit and (2) rear extended sway bar links
- (4) triple-rate coil springs and (4) spring correction seats (Comp coilover packages ship the rear pair only)
- Heat Shield Products Sticky Shield kit for the front control arm joints
- (2) rear brake line relocation brackets
Why this system
- Full high clearance 4 link long arm front suspension with an independent high clearance 3 link long arm rear.
- Adventure Series joints in the control arms isolate road vibration about like an OE bushing, allow a lot of misalignment, and the steel sleeve spins on a Teflon lined inner sleeve so the bushing is never twisted or chafed. The sleeve also takes the clamping load when you tighten an arm down, so the bushing is never squeezed. No grease, no noise.
- X2 rear geometry with enhanced rear instant center and roll center, plus adjustable rear anti-squat.
- High clearance rear axle mounts gain 4.5 inches of ground clearance under the rear axle compared to stock, and rear upper shock relocation brackets keep your shock and suspension travel.
- Triple-rate coils that work together for a ride Rock Krawler says beats the OEM linear rate springs, with free length set for off-road articulation. Correction seats take out the spring bow from the factory setup.
- A Heat Shield thermal barrier kit protects the front control arm joints at the frame, the same idea Jeep uses from the factory.
- Lifetime warranty coverage is listed in the system benefits.
Pick your package
The arms and brackets are the same in every package. The Package option is what changes.
- Base System - No Shocks: The full arm and bracket system with no shocks, for anyone who already has shocks they want to run or is sourcing a shock package separately. Bump stops ship with the shock packages; with no shocks, Rock Krawler sells them separately as RK07124.
- Bilstein 5100 Shocks: Maintenance free Bilstein 5100 shocks, a good match for the multi-rate coil springs. Rock Krawler's Bilstein package for 3.5 and 4.5 inch lifts references Bilstein 24-310635 (two) and 33-292977 (two).
- Stage 1 - RRD 2.25 IFP Shocks: Rock Krawler's own RRD 2.25 inch IFP shocks, built in-house. Fluted aluminum bodies with the cooling surface area of a 2.5 inch shock, 3/4 inch 17-4 PH stainless shafts with hard chrome plating, billet aluminum valve circuits, dual DU shaft bearings and double redundant sealing. Serviceable, rebuildable and revalveable.
- Comp Coilover System - Stage 1: Coilovers up front, coil springs in the rear. The front is a 2.625 inch RRD racing coilover with a remote reservoir (13 inches of shock travel, 14.4 inches of front axle travel) and the rear gets matching 2.625 inch RRD racing shocks with remote reservoirs. A good fit if you want coilover adjustability up front but still carry small loads or tow a small trailer.
- Comp Coilover System - Stage 2: The Comp layout with Fast CD (compression damping) adjusters added to the front coilovers and the rear shocks, for even more tuning.
- Trail Runner Coilover System - Stage 1: 2.625 inch RRD racing coilovers with remote reservoirs at all four corners. It maximizes off-road ability and comes tuned for the street, but Rock Krawler cautions that rear coilovers do not handle changing loads well, so regular towing or heavy weight in the bed is not ideal.
- Trail Runner Coilover System - Stage 2: The Trail Runner layout with Fast CD adjusters on the coilovers for the most tuning. Same caution about heavy loads in the bed applies.
Generic shock lengths for the shock packages are 18.31 inches collapsed and 30.31 inches extended in front, and 19 inches collapsed and 31 inches extended in the rear.
Fitment and what else you will need
- Fits 2018 and newer Jeep Wrangler JLU 4-door gas models.
- Rock Krawler bases all lift heights on Rubicon models in a standard build: front bumper and winch, rear bumper and a full size spare.
- Tires and wheels, per Rock Krawler: Sport and Sahara take 37 inch tires with full OEM fenders or 38 inch with trimmed or high lined fenders, on 3.5 inches of backspacing. Rubicons take 37 or 38 inch tires with full OEM fenders or 40 inch with trimmed or high lined fenders, on 4.5 inches of backspacing for 37 inch tires or 3.5 inches for 40 inch tires. A 3 inch bump stop height is recommended throughout.
- Rock Krawler suggests dropping 1 inch of rear coil lift height if you are building with a spare delete, and going up 1 inch for an overland or heavily loaded rear.
- Install: requires welding the front and rear long arm mounts, removing the OEM frame side lower and upper control arm mounts front and rear plus the OEM axle side rear lower control arm and track bar mounts, and modifying the OEM rear shock mounts to weld on the raised rear upper shock mounts (front shock mounts too on the coilover packages).
- Rock Krawler recommends a new front C.V. driveshaft for any front shock with a maximum extended length over 29 inches, and limiting straps to avoid over-extending suspension components.
Rock Krawler lists lifetime warranty coverage on this system.
