What's Included: RubiCrawler 2.72:1 planetary reduction unit, universal shifter assembly for non-stock transfer case applications, all mounting hardware and gaskets, and installation instructions. Does NOT include control module or vehicle-specific console shifter - this is for custom transfer case installations.
Who Needs the Universal Shifter: This package is specifically for TJ or JK owners who have already swapped to an Atlas transfer case or other aftermarket transfer case that doesn't use the stock Jeep linkage or cable system. If you're running a stock NP231 or NP241 transfer case, you need the vehicle-specific twin stick shifter package instead. The universal shifter provides basic shift functionality for custom transfer case setups.
2003-2011 TJ/JK Application: Fits all 2003-2011 Jeep Wrangler TJ, LJ, and JK models equipped with 42RLE automatic transmission. The 42RLE is the 4-speed automatic used in these Jeeps. This universal package works with both TJ and JK platforms when running aftermarket transfer cases.
Atlas Transfer Case Compatibility: Perfect for Jeeps running Atlas 2-speed or 4-speed transfer cases. With Atlas 3.0, you get ratios of high 1:1, RubiCrawler low 2.72:1, Atlas low 3.0:1, and ultra-low 8.16:1. With Atlas 5.0, you achieve high 1:1, RubiCrawler low 2.72:1, Atlas low 5.0:1, and massive ultra-low 13.60:1 for extreme terrain.
How It Works: Replaces your 42RLE tailhousing with the same 2.72:1 planetary reduction unit used in all RubiCrawler packages. Same zero-length-added design, same 6-gear planetary, same bolt-in installation. The difference is the universal shifter which allows compatibility with Atlas and other aftermarket transfer cases that have different shift mechanisms than stock Jeep units.
Benefits: Doubles available gear ratios, ultra-low crawling speeds, reduced transmission heat, optimized engine performance, competition-level capability when combined with Atlas low range. Compatible with lifted Jeeps, larger tires, upgraded axles.
